गीता का दसवाँ अध्याय 'विभूतियोग' भगवान के अनन्त ऐश्वर्य का वर्णन करता है। श्रीकृष्ण कहते हैं कि उनका आदि न देवता जानते हैं न महर्षि, क्योंकि वही सबके मूल कारण हैं। बुद्धि, ज्ञान, क्षमा, सत्य, सुख-दुःख — प्राणियों के सब भाव उन्हीं से उपजते हैं। अर्जुन उन्हें परम ब्रह्म मानकर उनकी विभूतियाँ विस्तार से सुनना चाहता है। उत्तर में भगवान अपनी 'विभूतियाँ' बताते हैं — आदित्यों में विष्णु, ज्योतियों में सूर्य, वेदों में सामवेद, इन्द्रियों में मन, पर्वतों में मेरु, नदियों में गंगा, पाण्डवों में अर्जुन... और अन्त में कहते हैं कि जो भी श्रेष्ठ, सुन्दर या शक्तिशाली है वह उनके तेज का एक अंश मात्र है — 'मैं एक अंश से ही सारे जगत को धारण किये हूँ'।
The tenth chapter, 'Vibhuti Yoga', describes the infinite glories of God. Krishna says that neither the gods nor the great sages know His origin, for He is the source of all. Intelligence, knowledge, forgiveness, truth, joy and sorrow — all the states of beings arise from Him. Recognizing Him as the supreme Brahman, Arjuna longs to hear His glories in detail. In reply, Krishna names His 'vibhutis' — among the Adityas, Vishnu; among lights, the sun; among the Vedas, the Sama Veda; among the senses, the mind; among mountains, Meru; among rivers, the Ganga; among the Pandavas, Arjuna — and concludes that whatever is glorious, beautiful or powerful is but a spark of His splendour: 'I support this entire universe with a single fraction of Myself.'

श्री भगवान बोले: हे महाबाहो! एक बार फिर मेरे परम और प्रभावशाली वचन सुन, जो मैं तुझ प्रिय भक्त के हित की कामना से कहूँगा।
The Blessed Lord said: Hear once more, O mighty-armed, My supreme word, which I shall speak to you, who are dear to Me, for your welfare.
मेरे प्रकट होने (उत्पत्ति) को न देवता जानते हैं न महर्षि; क्योंकि मैं हर प्रकार से देवताओं और महर्षियों का भी आदि-कारण हूँ।
Neither the hosts of gods nor the great sages know My origin; for I am the source of the gods and the great sages in every way.
जो मुझे अजन्मा, अनादि और लोकों का महान ईश्वर तत्त्व से जानता है, वह मनुष्यों में मोहरहित ज्ञानी सब पापों से मुक्त हो जाता है।
One who knows Me as unborn, beginningless and the great Lord of the worlds — that undeluded one among mortals is freed from all sins.
बुद्धि, ज्ञान, मोह का अभाव, क्षमा, सत्य, इन्द्रिय-संयम, मन-निग्रह; सुख-दुःख, उत्पत्ति-विनाश, भय-अभय; तथा अहिंसा, समता, संतोष, तप, दान, यश और अपयश — प्राणियों के ये नाना भाव मुझसे ही उत्पन्न होते हैं।
Intelligence, knowledge, freedom from delusion, patience, truth, self-control, calmness; pleasure and pain, birth and death, fear and fearlessness; non-violence, equanimity, contentment, austerity, charity, fame and infamy — these varied states of beings arise from Me alone.
सात महर्षि, उनसे भी पहले के चार सनकादि, तथा (चौदह) मनु — ये सब मुझमें भाव रखने वाले मेरे संकल्प (मन) से उत्पन्न हुए हैं, जिनसे संसार की यह सारी प्रजा है।
The seven great sages, the four ancient ones before them, and the Manus — all sharing My nature — were born of My mind; from them came all the creatures of the world.
जो मेरी इस विभूति (ऐश्वर्य) और योगशक्ति को तत्त्व से जानता है, वह अविचल भक्तियोग से युक्त हो जाता है — इसमें कोई संशय नहीं।
One who truly knows this glory and power of Mine becomes endowed with unshakable yoga; of this there is no doubt.
मैं ही सम्पूर्ण जगत का उद्गम हूँ और मुझसे ही सब चेष्टा करता है — ऐसा जानकर श्रद्धा-भाव से युक्त बुद्धिमान भक्त मुझे ही भजते हैं।
I am the origin of all; from Me everything proceeds. Knowing this, the wise, filled with devotion, worship Me.
मुझमें मन और प्राण लगाने वाले भक्त आपस में मेरे प्रभाव की चर्चा करते, मेरा कथन करते हुए निरन्तर संतुष्ट रहते और मुझमें ही रमण करते हैं।
With minds fixed on Me and lives surrendered to Me, enlightening one another and ever speaking of Me, they are content and rejoice.
उन निरन्तर मुझमें लगे, प्रेमपूर्वक भजने वाले भक्तों को मैं वह बुद्धियोग देता हूँ, जिससे वे मुझे ही प्राप्त होते हैं।
To those ever steadfast, worshipping Me with love, I give that yoga of understanding by which they come to Me.
उन पर कृपा करने के लिए मैं उनके हृदय में स्थित होकर, प्रकाशमान ज्ञान-दीपक से उनके अज्ञानजनित अन्धकार को नष्ट कर देता हूँ।
Out of compassion for them, dwelling within their hearts, I destroy the darkness born of ignorance with the shining lamp of knowledge.
अर्जुन बोले: आप परम ब्रह्म, परम धाम और परम पवित्र हैं। सब ऋषि, देवर्षि नारद, असित, देवल और व्यास आपको सनातन दिव्य पुरुष, देवों के भी आदिदेव, अजन्मा और सर्वव्यापी कहते हैं; और स्वयं आप भी मुझसे यही कहते हैं।
Arjuna said: You are the supreme Brahman, the supreme abode, the supremely pure. All the sages — the divine sage Narada, Asita, Devala and Vyasa — call You the eternal divine Person, the first of gods, unborn and all-pervading; and You Yourself tell me so.
हे केशव! जो कुछ आप मुझसे कहते हैं, उसे मैं सत्य मानता हूँ। हे भगवन्! आपके प्रकट स्वरूप को न देवता जानते हैं न दानव।
I hold as true all that You tell me, O Keshava; neither the gods nor the demons, O Lord, know Your manifestation.
हे पुरुषोत्तम! हे भूतों के उत्पत्ति-कर्ता! हे भूतों के ईश्वर! हे देवों के देव! हे जगत्पति! आप स्वयं ही अपने-आपको जानते हैं।
You alone know Yourself by Yourself, O Supreme Person, O source of beings, O Lord of beings, O God of gods, O ruler of the world.
आप ही अपनी उन दिव्य विभूतियों को पूरी तरह कहने में समर्थ हैं, जिन विभूतियों से आप इन सब लोकों को व्याप्त करके स्थित हैं।
You alone can fully describe Your divine glories, by which You pervade and abide in all these worlds.
हे योगेश्वर! निरन्तर चिन्तन करते हुए मैं आपको कैसे जानूँ? और हे भगवन्! किन-किन रूपों में मैं आपका चिन्तन करूँ?
How shall I know You, O Master of yoga, by constant meditation? In what forms, O Lord, are You to be thought of by me?
हे जनार्दन! अपनी योगशक्ति और विभूति को फिर से विस्तार से कहिए; क्योंकि आपके अमृत-वचन सुनते हुए मेरी तृप्ति ही नहीं होती।
Tell me again in detail, O Janardana, of Your power and glory; for I am never satiated hearing Your nectar-like words.
श्री भगवान बोले: हे कुरुश्रेष्ठ! अच्छा, अब मैं अपनी प्रमुख दिव्य विभूतियाँ तुझे बताता हूँ; क्योंकि मेरे विस्तार का तो कोई अन्त ही नहीं।
The Blessed Lord said: So be it! I shall tell you My principal divine glories, O best of the Kurus; for there is no end to My extent.
हे गुडाकेश! मैं सब प्राणियों के हृदय में स्थित उनका आत्मा हूँ; तथा सब भूतों का आदि, मध्य और अन्त भी मैं ही हूँ।
I am the Self, O Gudakesha, seated in the hearts of all beings; I am the beginning, the middle and the end of all beings.
आदित्यों में मैं विष्णु हूँ, ज्योतियों में किरणों वाला सूर्य हूँ, मरुद्गणों में मरीचि और नक्षत्रों में चन्द्रमा हूँ।
Among the Adityas I am Vishnu; among lights, the radiant sun; among the Maruts I am Marichi; among the stars I am the moon.
वेदों में मैं सामवेद हूँ, देवताओं में इन्द्र हूँ, इन्द्रियों में मन हूँ और प्राणियों में चेतना (जीवन-शक्ति) हूँ।
Among the Vedas I am the Sama Veda; among the gods I am Indra; among the senses I am the mind; in beings I am consciousness.
रुद्रों में मैं शंकर हूँ, यक्ष-राक्षसों में कुबेर हूँ, वसुओं में अग्नि हूँ और शिखरों वाले पर्वतों में सुमेरु हूँ।
Among the Rudras I am Shankara; among the yakshas and rakshasas, Kubera; among the Vasus I am fire; among mountain peaks I am Meru.
हे पार्थ! पुरोहितों में मुखिया बृहस्पति मुझे जान; सेनापतियों में मैं स्कन्द (कार्तिकेय) हूँ और जलाशयों में समुद्र हूँ।
Among priests, O Partha, know Me to be the chief, Brihaspati; among commanders I am Skanda; among bodies of water I am the ocean.
महर्षियों में मैं भृगु हूँ, वाणी में एक अक्षर ॐकार हूँ, यज्ञों में जप-यज्ञ हूँ और स्थिर वस्तुओं में हिमालय हूँ।
Among the great sages I am Bhrigu; among words I am the single syllable Om; among sacrifices I am the sacrifice of silent repetition; among immovable things, the Himalaya.
सब वृक्षों में मैं पीपल हूँ, देवर्षियों में नारद, गन्धर्वों में चित्ररथ और सिद्धों में कपिल मुनि हूँ।
Among trees I am the peepal; among divine sages, Narada; among gandharvas, Chitraratha; among the perfected ones, the sage Kapila.
घोड़ों में अमृत के साथ प्रकट हुआ उच्चैःश्रवा, श्रेष्ठ हाथियों में ऐरावत और मनुष्यों में राजा मुझे जान।
Among horses know Me as Uchchaihshravas, born of nectar; among lordly elephants, Airavata; among men, the king.
शस्त्रों में मैं वज्र हूँ, गौओं में कामधेनु हूँ, सन्तान-उत्पत्ति का हेतु कामदेव हूँ और सर्पों में वासुकि हूँ।
Among weapons I am the thunderbolt; among cows, the wish-fulfilling Kamadhenu; I am Kandarpa, the cause of progeny; among serpents, Vasuki.
नागों में मैं शेषनाग हूँ, जलचरों के अधिपति वरुण हूँ, पितरों में अर्यमा हूँ और संयम (दण्ड) करने वालों में यमराज हूँ।
Among nagas I am Ananta; among water-beings, Varuna; among the ancestors, Aryaman; among controllers, Yama.
दैत्यों में मैं प्रह्लाद हूँ, गणना करने वालों में काल (समय) हूँ, पशुओं में सिंह और पक्षियों में गरुड़ हूँ।
Among the daityas I am Prahlada; among reckoners I am Time; among beasts I am the lion; among birds I am Garuda.
पवित्र करने वालों में मैं वायु हूँ, शस्त्रधारियों में श्रीराम हूँ, मछलियों में मगर हूँ और नदियों में श्रीगंगा हूँ।
Among purifiers I am the wind; among warriors I am Rama; among fishes I am the crocodile; among rivers I am the Ganga.
हे अर्जुन! सृष्टियों का आदि, मध्य और अन्त मैं ही हूँ; विद्याओं में अध्यात्म-विद्या और वाद-विवाद करने वालों का तत्त्व-निर्णायक वाद मैं हूँ।
Among creations I am the beginning, the middle and the end, O Arjuna; among sciences I am the science of the Self; among debaters I am right reasoning.
अक्षरों में मैं 'अ'कार हूँ और समासों में द्वन्द्व-समास हूँ; अक्षय काल (महाकाल) और सब ओर मुख वाला विराट-धाता भी मैं ही हूँ।
Among letters I am the letter A; among compounds I am the dual; I am inexhaustible Time, and the all-faced sustainer.
सबका हरण करने वाली मृत्यु और होने वालों की उत्पत्ति भी मैं हूँ; तथा स्त्री-गुणों में कीर्ति, श्री, वाणी, स्मृति, मेधा, धृति और क्षमा मैं हूँ।
I am all-devouring death, and the origin of those yet to be; and among feminine qualities, fame, prosperity, speech, memory, intelligence, steadfastness and forgiveness.
साम-मंत्रों में मैं बृहत्साम हूँ, छन्दों में गायत्री हूँ; महीनों में मार्गशीर्ष और ऋतुओं में वसन्त मैं हूँ।
Among the Sama hymns I am the Brihatsama; among metres, the Gayatri; among months I am Margashirsha; among seasons, spring.
छल करने वालों में मैं जुआ हूँ, तेजस्वियों का तेज हूँ; मैं विजय हूँ, निश्चय (उद्यम) हूँ और सात्त्विक पुरुषों का सत्त्व-भाव हूँ।
Among deceivers I am gambling; I am the splendour of the splendid; I am victory, I am resolve, and the goodness of the good.
वृष्णिवंशियों में मैं वासुदेव हूँ, पाण्डवों में अर्जुन (धनंजय) हूँ, मुनियों में व्यास और कवियों में शुक्राचार्य हूँ।
Among the Vrishnis I am Vasudeva; among the Pandavas, Arjuna; among sages I am Vyasa; among seers, the poet Ushanas.
दमन करने वालों का दण्ड मैं हूँ, विजय चाहने वालों की नीति हूँ, गुप्त रखने योग्य भावों में मौन हूँ और ज्ञानियों का ज्ञान मैं हूँ।
Among punishers I am the rod of discipline; among those seeking victory, statesmanship; among secrets I am silence; and I am the knowledge of the knowers.
हे अर्जुन! सब प्राणियों का जो बीज (मूल कारण) है, वह भी मैं ही हूँ; ऐसा कोई चर या अचर प्राणी नहीं जो मेरे बिना हो।
And whatever is the seed of all beings, that too am I, O Arjuna; there is nothing, moving or unmoving, that can exist without Me.
हे परंतप! मेरी दिव्य विभूतियों का कोई अन्त नहीं; मैंने तो यह विभूति-विस्तार तुझे केवल संक्षेप में बताया है।
There is no end to My divine glories, O scorcher of foes; what I have told you is but a brief indication of My extent.
जो भी वस्तु ऐश्वर्ययुक्त, कान्तियुक्त या शक्तियुक्त है, उसे तू मेरे ही तेज के एक अंश से प्रकट हुई जान।
Whatever being is glorious, beautiful or powerful — know that to spring from but a spark of My splendour.
अथवा हे अर्जुन! इतना विस्तार से जानने की क्या आवश्यकता? मैं अपनी योगशक्ति के एक ही अंश से इस सम्पूर्ण जगत को धारण करके स्थित हूँ।
But what need have you of all this detailed knowledge, O Arjuna? I stand supporting this entire universe with but a single fraction of Myself.
